May 18, 2022

On May 17, 2022, Shelby Bottled Gas customers became Co-Alliance customers. Co-Alliance purchased the business from Shelby Bottled Gas Corporation and immediately assumed servicing the business.

Shelby Bottled Gas Corporation was based out of Shelbyville, Indiana and was a closely held corporation specializing in residential, light commercial, and industrial propane service, installation, and design.

Co-Alliance is a cooperative organization formally established in 2006 with roots dating back to the 1920s. Co-Alliance provides delivery of propane, heating oil, liquid fuels, lubricants, and other petroleum products. Co-Alliance’s propane market geography is adjacent to the Shelby Bottled Gas trade area which will allow additional synergies. Co-Alliance also operates divisions in Agronomy, Grain, and Swine & Animal Nutrition.

“In discussions with our team over the past couple years, we realized it was time to look for a new path for Shelby Bottled Gas. As we have worked through this acquisition, it is evident this is a win-win for both sides of the table. The culture and values of the two organizations merge well to help support success of this business moving forward,” said Shelby Bottled Gas owner Dan Leary.

“Co-Alliance is excited about the opportunity to bring Shelby Bottled Gas customers and employees onto our team. The high level of service that Shelby Bottled Gas has offered for many years matches Co-Alliance’s commitment to customer service and support. We look forward to maintaining the customer experience that Shelby Bottled Gas customers are accustomed to receiving,” said Co-Alliance President and CEO Kevin Still.

“After decades of watching the success of Shelby Bottled Gas Corporation from afar, we are pleased to bring this strong business into Co-Alliance. The Co-Alliance family wants to assure the Shelby Bottled Gas customers of the same quality, commitment, and dedication to service that they are accustomed to.  During this transition period customers can be confident that Co-Alliance will continue to meet their propane needs with efficiency and integrity,” said Todd Masten, Co-Alliance’s VP of Energy.

Propane Resources provided the seller with sell side advisory services. Propane Resources worked with the seller providing a marketing package, obtaining and negotiating offers, on-site due diligence and coordination of closing.
